The Canadiens have retained the Xhekaj brothers' younger brother and sent down Reinbacher following the preseason finale. The Xhekaj brothers, Florian and Arber, now have a new, bigger home with the team. The Canadiens placed nine players on waivers after making roster moves. Florian Xhekaj was not among the players cut ahead of the season opener. The decision regarding the other Xhekaj brother was made just before the final cuts.
