OCEARCH reported that Contender, the biggest great white shark tracked in the program at 1,600 pounds, has entered Newfoundland waters. This is the first instance a tagged shark in the program has swum into those waters. Contender is the biggest shark OCEARCH has ever tagged.

Separately, a surfer was attacked by a shark at Glenfield Beach in Western Australia. Shark attack survivor Leah Stewart recalled "My heart stopped" as she shared new details about the encounter. Scientists also described discovering the largest shark known.
