Preston North End has sacked manager Paul Heckingbottom. The club made the decision public on Sunday. Preston is currently in the bottom three of the Championship after losing six of its first seven games in the current league schedule. Heckingbottom was hired at Preston last year. He had previously managed Sheffield United. The club will turn to a Premier League cult hero in the interim role. The decision arrives after a rough opening to the season.
